HAND DYED LACE YARNS

Here are some pictures of my latest dyeing. The yarn is a blend of 87% Alpaca and 17% Merino which makes it wonderfully soft 500m/100g.

The camera and monitor might slightly alter the colours but I think the pictures give a good idea.

A thicker Alpaca yarn will be dyed next and a pure Merino Yarn.

SHRUG/WRAP

Woven on the 70cm Knitter's loom in mainly cotton yarns.

The right front of the shrug is very long and can be draped over the left shoulder. Very comfortable and light to wear in summer.

MAKING WAVES

The recipe for this shrug I found on 'ravelry', also the idea of mixing different colour ways of sock yarn by knitting with 2-3 balls and changing every or every other row.

I needed 450 instead of 570 stitches because I used thicker needles (4.0mm) and wild lace patterns.

The shrug has very nice drape and is a pleasure to wear.

KNIT/CROCHET JACKET

Knitted and Crochet Modules form the upper fronts and back of the jacket, the sleeves are knit, the body is crochet and the bottom border consists of knit modules again. The yarn was hand spun by Lana Odendaal and I hand dyed it.

KNITTING/CROCHET COMBINATION

This wrap/bolero was started at Dana Biddle's studio in Heidelberg/SA during a WildKnitting Course with Dana's Colourspun Oddballs. It started with crochet pentagons and squares (patterns by Doris Chan)and continued with knitted zigzag over the shoulders.
