Ooh that must have been such fun. All those colours make fingers very itchy. I'm looking forward to seeing the spun skeins. If you want to keep the colour sequene totally unmixed and clear, Spin Off once suggested using the Navaho Ply. I know it is a 3 ply but it works really well for me.
it does. however, the resulting yarn is too thick for what i want to knit. what worked for me was pre-drafting in order to get long colour repeats and spin singles. i also like the softness i get in the singles. if i want shorter repeats i split the tops once or twice before i draft. can't wait to start knitting but have to wait for some quiet time which seems to be in short supply right now.
It must be a lot softer. I've heard of such nightmares people have had when knitting singles though. Do you knit into the back of the stitch to stop distortion or rely on a set skein?
i mostly rely on a set skein and knit mainly lace patterns combines with garter stitch which don't give you problems with distortion. another solution is to ply with a very thin silk or cotton sewing or machine embroidery thread.
Aah, I'd forgotten garter stitch straightens out the twist. A ply with silk must give you a better handle than cotton sewing thread. I've no experience of machine embroidery thread. Thanks for the info.
